Alpine Minerals #11

A828 - Quartz with Amiant - SOLD
Val Cavrein, Graubünden, Switzerland
Size: 7 x 5.9 x 4.6 cm

This is one of the most bautiful crystals I ever saw from the locality. Amiant bearing clefts were generally rare in the area and no more have been found for many years. This particular specimen shows razor sharp termination and all faces are highly lustrous. The most important feature are these wonderful inclusions in the center of the crystal. The specimen looks really fantastic in each angle! A center piece for every alpine collection!

ZW38 - Amethyst Sceptre - 550€
Mörchnerkar, Zemmgrund, Zillertal, Tirol, Austria
Size: 3.8 x 3.1 x 1.6 cm

A striking miniature from this famous locale. Today this material is almost impossible to find, most pieces were found decades ago! This particular crystal shows very good quality with a sharp terminated amethyst scepter. It is water clear and glossy, it shows a concentration of deep purple color along the edges. Looks very nice in various positions, small crystals of mica set a beautiful contrast.

A721 - Smoky Quartz - SOLD
Spitzigrat, Kanton Uri, Switzerland
Size: 10 x 9 x 6.7 cm

What an amazing smoky quartz specimen. Three freestanding exposed and elongated crystals are surrounded by numerous smaller ones attractively set on light granite matrix. The contrast is spectacular and the quality of all smoky quartz crystals is gorgeous - they show this most wanted dark red-brown color, razor sharp termination and highest possible luster. There are no internal cracks or inclusions, they are all water-clear! Superb condition and aesthetics.

KD22 - Gwindel - SOLD
Scheuchzerhorn, Berner Oberland, Switzerland
Size: 4.8 x 4.6 x 1.6 cm

Clear gwindels are much rarer than brown ones, and this is a stunning sample featuring great shape and clarity combined. Superb luster and great condition on all sides.

AS01 - Smoky Quartz Gwindel - SOLD
Göschener Alp, Göschenen, Uri, Switzerland
Size: 9.2 x 7.6 x 3.7 cm

This is a truly impressive specimen, already the size is remarkable! The gwindel is flawless, the faces show uncountable razor sharp steps and super bright luster all around. Photos don´t do justice to this marvellous alpine jewel. The bottom side is fully crystalized too, not just rehealed, making this a great floater piece.

A684 - Epidote - SOLD
Knappenwand, Untersulzbachtal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 7.6 x 5 x 1.9 cm

Great alpine classic from this world-famous locality, which produced the finest epidote crystals in the world. This particular sample shows a very aesthetic assemble of intergrown crystal, they are all sharp terminated and highly lustrous. A group of light green byssolithe in the center gives a lot of contrast to the specimen. Since 2009 no fine new material was found at Knappenwand, so this could be a good opportunity to get a really attractive specimen before the last material disappears on the market. Geat condition, no repair.

A568 - Quartz - SOLD
Tiefengletscher, Furka, Kanton Uri, Switzerland
Size: 11 x 8.3 x 7.7 cm

Super aesthetic spray of light brown smoky crystals on granite matrix. Minor hematite, adularia and chlorite are present in a few places and set a pleasing contrast. Amazing clarity, no damage.

AF04 - Quartz - 950€
Alp Valleggia, Val Bedretto, Tessin, Switzerland
Size: 8.6 x 4.1 x 3.2 cm

The shape of this specimen is very aesthetic - the rock crystal looks like a rocket ready for take-off! It shows an elongated tessin habit, great clarity, a sharp pointed termination and wonderful striations and extra faces. But the best of all is the brilliant luster, it is like a super glossy piece of cut Swarovski glass, could not be a better polish. The entire piece is in pristine condition.

TG26 - Fluorite - SOLD
Frunthorn, Valsertal, Kanton Graubünden, Switzerland
Size: 5.8 x 4.3 x 3.1 cm

A perfect, raspberry-red 2.2 cm wide fluorite octahedron perched on the typical schist of Valser valley. The tips of the octahedron show nicely crystalized steps, hoppered growth that is quite typical for many cubic mineral species. Only very few red fluorites have been found in the steep north slope of the Frunthorn mountain. This is a very rare opportunity to get a great one.

A544 - Smoky Quartz
Tiefengletscher, Furka, Kanton Uri, Switzerland
Size: 32 x 28 x 17 cm

WOWWW! What a MONSTER morion crystal cluster!!! Two huge, super sharp and super glossy morion crystals are attached at their base to form a gorgeous V-shape composition. The edges are razor sharp and the faces are lustrous like mirrors. The Tiefenglacier region is famous for the biggest and best morion specimens ever found on earth, and many of them reside in natural history museums around the world. This particular piece is indeed one of the very finest and most aesthetic specimens from the pocket, and furthermore from the entire alps. Absolutely top museum level, a centerpiece for every advanced mineral collection. One lock-fit repair, no restoration. Please feel free to ask for the price.

Breithorn, Binn Valley, Wallis, Switzerland

Four doubly-terminated rutile crystals up to 20 mm in length resting on a calcite and schist matrix. One of them even shows the typical knee twinning. The crystals are in perfect conditon and the luster is the best you can look for.

KD18 - Smoky Quartz Gwindel - SOLD
Val Strem, Surselva, Kanton Graubünden, Switzerland
Size: 6.8 x 5.1 x 1.8 cm

The famous Giuv syenite zone is one of the very best Gwindel locations in the entire alps. The pieces stand out because of their pleasing rich brown colour, their clarity, luster and their tall shapes. This specimen got all these features and is so typical of this geologic zone. Epidote needles up to 10 mm are included, and also attached on the back side. The crystal is a floater and in great condition all around.
