Alpine Minerals #10

A590 - Epidote - 11000€
Knappenwand, Untersulzbachtal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 18.1 x 6.2 x 3.9 cm

WOW! Whan an awesome epidote rocket, rising up from a cluster group of byssolite and epidote crystals. This is indeed one of the tallest crystals I have ever seen from this famous locality, it measures incredible 17.3 cm from top to bottom! The crystal crossing on the lower right side is thick and sturdy, it measures 2,7 cm in width and features a sharp and brilliant termination. The size is indeed shocking and impressive, and the luster is great all around as well. It is actually bright like a mirror, the best I heve seen from this famous classic locality. This piece comes from one of the last great pockets found in 2008/2009 mining season. The locality has produced nothing even close since then. Unfortunately, the miners are quite sure that the Knappenwand is most likely exploited and production will come to an end soon. This is an excellet opportunity to get one of the best and tallest epidote specimens ever fond at this classic Alpine locality. Repaired 10x, all lock fit, no parts missing though, and no damage on any of the terminations.

OS15 - Strontianite - 450€
Oberdorf an der Laming, Steiermark, Austria
Size: 6 x 3 x 1.9 cm

Oberdorf is the most relevant locality for strontianite. Usually this mineral developes tiny, colorless and unattractive crystals in millimter size. Have a look at this remarkable dimension - the specimen is 6cm tall, the stepped faces are glossy and the crystals show really good colour. The horizontal reddish colour zoning makes it even more special. A great sample for strontianite generally and even for Oberdorf exceptional size and quality! It is complete all around and could be displayed 360°, only bottom was on the rock.

SP09 - Sartorite - 120€
Lengenbach, Binntal, Wallis, Switzerland
Size: 6.8 x 5.8 x 4.5 cm

10 mm sartorite crystal on white marble and pyrite host rock. From a classic Swiss locality! No damage.

A566 - Smoky Quartz Gwindel - SOLD

WOW! What a superb French gwindel! The crystal features perfect textbook shape and a great twist. It is fully clear from top to bottom and the luster is great. The piece is in excellent condition all around, just tiny little bruising is present on a few tips, nothing of significance. The height of th this gwindel is way above average level, it is truly special and stand out the crowd!

A261 - Quartz - 1150€
Pardatsch, Val Nalps, Tujetsch, Graubünden, Switzerland
Size: 12.8 x 12.1 x 5.1 cm

This is a superb and very 3-dimensional quartz cluster group that formed around a part of schist matrix. It comes from Pardatsch, that is a small place in Val Nalps that can geologically be considered as a prolongation of the famous Cavradi zone. This piece is one of the very best ever to come from this place. It is a full floater, the back side is fully crystalized, there are even no points of contact. The crystals are all elongated and clear, an all in excellent condition. There is no damage to report.

Saurüssel, Mörchnerkar, Zillertal, Tirol, Austria
Size: 8.9 x 3.8 x 5.8 cm

A 33 mm sceptre amethyst standing upright on matrix, not repaired! The bright matrix indicates at first sight that it comes from the famous Saurüssel mining area. The sceptre head shows lovely fensters, also so typical of this locality. Minor sagenite rutile is present in a 15 mm cluster. No damage.

AS02 - Quartz - SOLD
Gerental, Kanton Wallis, Switzerland
Size: 11.6 x 10.5 x 3.8 cm

WOW! Gorgeous clear quartz crystals forming a highly aesthetic cluster! The shape is a mix of Tessin and Aare styles. Both distinctive habits, striations and the stepped faces are equally fine developed. A small part of metamorphic gneis is attached on the lower left side. This is a real 360° rock, it is very well formed all the way around. No damage.
