WOW! What a classic English masterpiece! Found in the famous "Jewel Box Pocket" in Summer 2008, this piece is easily one of the very best specimens from the recent mining period at the Rogerly mine! The luster and clarity of this particular pocket is shockingly fine and still unrivaled. Three large and sharp twins rest amidst smaller fluorite and galena crystals on a cabinet sized matrix. Published in Lapis magazine several times (January 2010 issue), and in the book "Mineralienbilder" by Hilde Könighofer, page 145. The clarity is fantastic and the fluorescence in daylight is just jaw-dropping! A masterpiece by all standards! Ex Robert Brandstetter collection.

FV04 - Fluorite - 2450€
Rogerley Mine, Weardale, North Pennines, Co. Durham, England
Size: 7.4 x 5.7 x 5 cm

The main crystals are up to 31 mm on edges. They show the typical emerald green color and also a very good daylight fluorescence, which gives them nearly azurite color when exposed to daylight. The main crystals developed penetration twins, their termination is sharp, faces are partly glossy and clarity is very fine - even for Rogerley Mine. The assemble is aesthetic with exposed crystals and it shows a good contrast with minor limetsone matrix at the base.

CO163 - Fluorite - 1050€
Frazer's Hush Mine, Rookhope, Stanhope, County Durham, England, United Kingdom
Size: 11.8 x 8.5 x 6.6 cm

How did that locality get its name? ... to remove grass, mud and earth from the fluorite-bearing rock the miners used water in high-pressure hose. This mining method is called "hush-mining". The owner of the mine was Mister Frazer - and so the name of this famous mine was born: Frazers Hush. The locality is famous for the most crazy day-light fluorescence you can imagine, even for northern England this material stands out the crowd! The crystals show violet color, which looks like neon-purple under daylight, the particular specimen shows twinned crystals up to 18mm, all sharp terminated and highly lustrous. Just a few minor imperfections are present, but most crystals are in very fine condition.

LK23 - Hematite - 1200€
Egremont, Cumberland, England
Size: 16.8 x 14.3 x 12.5 cm

This is a large and very 3-dimensional aggregate of kidney ore from a classic English locality. The botryoidal crystal cluster in the center is truly very well exposed, much better than the picture shows it, and serves aa a wonderful focal point. No damages on the entire center region of the piece. The luster is exceptionally glossy, and the colour is a lovely reddish brown. Total weight: 4.3 kg. Ex Oliver Konczer collection #558.

NJ32 - Calcite - 850€
Bigrigg Mine, Bigrigg, West Cumberland Iron Field, Cumberland, Cumbria, England
Size: 8 x 7.6 x 5.4 cm

A special columnar shape with predominating scalenohedral faces towards the end points made these calcites from Bigrigg Mine famous all over the world. They became classics and rank among the best samples of the species. This particular specimen has been in the personal collection of Hilde Könighofer for many years, and she made a wonderful water-colour painting of that piece which is illustrated on page 147 of her book "Mineralienbilder". Great aesthetics and provenance! Due to an iron staining some of the crystals show a beautiful pinkish hue.
